Tasting note
The Lagrein Riserva goes through an extra long maceration period of up to 35 days. Around 10% of the grapes are fermented with whole, undestemmed grapes. 1/3 of the wine is then aged in large wooden barrels and 2/3 in barriques. Ripe nose with aromas of blackberries and plum puree, plus notes of chocolate and licorice. Dense and firm structure, long, elegant acidity and spicy tannins on the finish.
Culinary recommendation
With hearty dishes, such as beetroot risotto with goat cheese and fried porcini mushrooms, with dark meat, grilled or braised, such as deer entrecote with cassis sauce or ox cheeks in Lagrein. Even with spicy hard cheeses.
