About the wine
Culture and wine — there are only a few sites on earth where this combination is maintained more intensively than here. In 1027, the Habsburgs founded the abbey, which was taken over by Benedictine monks from Muri in Switzerland in 1845. It was they who mentioned the name Lagreiner for the first time. The monastery's own vineyards are consistently cultivated using integrated and near-natural cultivation methods. Low hive loads and gentle, regulating interventions on plant growth and the environment are the basis for optimal harvest results and an intact environment.

Tasting note
Intense, dark garnet red. Smells complex and complex, ripe berry aromas with cherries and barberries, spicy notes of tobacco and leather, some licorice and eucalyptus, forest soil, dense and full. On the palate with convincing structure, finesse and character, softness and velvety combined with concentration and extract, well-integrated acid structure, handy tannins, looks fresh and inviting, long-lasting. Probably one of the most authentic and successful interpretations of the autochthonous South Tyrolean Lagrein grape variety.
Culinary recommendation
Lagrein Riserva goes particularly well with hearty meats such as grilled beef or lamb, but also with game dishes and aged cheese. Its deep structure and complex aromas also make it a perfect companion for strong pasta dishes and ripe, dark chocolate specialities.
Vinification
Temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel at 30°C for 14 days, maceration and biological acid degradation (BSA) in stainless steel tanks, aging in small wooden barrels for at least 14 months
