About the wine
Dirk Niepoort's great passion for Bairrada terroir and the local Baga grape led him to search for small plots of old vines. In 2012, he acquired Quinta de Baixo to create a classic wine that expresses the exceptional quality of the Baga grape from Bairrada.

Tasting note
A bright ruby red in the glass. The nose is expressive with lively aromas of red cherries, wild strawberries and floral notes. On the palate, the wine is just as fresh as the nose promises with an aromatic start and a juicy drinking flow. The tannin is finely integrated and polished. A very invigorating and refreshing wine.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with game, poultry, vegetarian dishes and legumes.
Vinification
The alcoholic fermentation takes place in a staltank for 4 weeks before the wine is transferred to 2500 liters of fuder. There, the malolactic fermentation takes place and the wine is then aged in the same barrels for 19 months.
