Tasting note
The Brenntal location is located in the north of the village of Kurtatsch and is one of the warmest locations in South Tyrol. The vines on the steep slope with intensive sunlight grow on red, sandy-loamy soil. In the evening, refreshing downwinds cool the fleshy grapes. This unique terroir produces a Merlot that impresses with its strength and dark berries (cranberries, blackberries), but at the same time preserves its alpine character (green tea, white pepper). The fruit on the palate is accompanied by a dense, velvety tannin. The delicate acidity gives the wine its precise balance with an impressively long-lasting finish.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with hearty meat dishes such as lamb, beef, venison or deer as well as with braised or fried poultry. Dishes such as mushroom risotto, truffle pasta or aged hard cheese also harmonize perfectly with the aromatic depth of Merlot Brenntal.
Vinification
Fermentation is temperature-controlled in the rotor tank to ensure optimal extraction of color and aromas. The wine is then aged in French barriques for 15 months and is then further refined in large oak barrels. Aging in the bottle for at least one year harmoniously rounds off the Merlot Brenntal.
