About the wine
The Klet Brda winery is located in Dobrovo and has always been part of Dobrovo Castle. However, it was only at the beginning of the 20th century that a targeted structure of the cellar with classification and modern production facilities was established. In 2018, Klet Brda renovated the wine cellar. The wines from Klet Brda are not only popular in Slovenia, but are appreciated in 28 countries around the world. The special thing about Klet Brda is that it is a cooperative consisting of 400 small winegrowing families.
Tasting note
A blend of three typical red varieties from Brda — Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The selected terraced vineyards, which are cultivated according to the principles of sustainable production, are located at an altitude of 80 to 250 m. The selected grapes were macerated separately and fermented in stainless steel fermentation tanks for 20 days. Dark, rich ruby. Intense, tight nose. Fragrant of ripe wild berries and cassis, mocca, warm smoke, plus a fine, subtle coconut note. A large, mouth-filling and aromatic wine with lots of melting and a robust texture. The aftertaste is long and distinctly aromatic. An excellent representative from Goriska Brda, with lots of regional character, and at a fair price.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with game, grilled meat or fresh cheese
Vinification
The grapes are already selected during the harvest. The maceration period and fermentation take place in temperature-controlled steel tanks. The young wine remains in the steel tanks until the end of the year and the malolactic fermentation is complete.
