Tasting note
The Modri Pinot from Klet Brda comes from the gentle, sun-drenched hills of Goriška Brda — one of Slovenia's most renowned wine regions, right on the border with Friuli. In this unique microclimate, characterized by Mediterranean influences and cool nights, Pinot Noir ripens slowly and evenly — ideal conditions for elegance, finesse and aromatic depth. In the glass, the wine is bright ruby red with delicate garnet reflections. The nose reveals a finely nuanced bouquet of red cherries, wild strawberries and cranberries, accompanied by floral notes and a touch of fine spices. On the palate, Modri Pinot is fresh, silky and balanced, with soft tannins and lively acidity. A touch of wood subtly rounds off the profile without overlapping the typical fruit. The finish is elegant, mineral and persistent — a stylish expression of the grape variety and terroir.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with fried poultry, veal, baked mushroom dishes or mild cheeses.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand to ensure optimal ripeness and healthy sour cherries Maceration & fermentation: Mash fermentation takes place over approx. 8-10 days at controlled 25-28°C, which enables a good balance between extraction of aromas and fine tannins Container: Around 50% of the mash ferments in stainless steel tanks, 50% in French barrique barrels Wood aging: After fermentation, the wine matures partly in barrique barrels Eaters, partly in large wooden barrels — also in a ratio of around 50% barrique — giving the wine additional depth gives Sur-lie & malolactic fermentation: Approximately 50% remain on the fine yeast (“sur lie”) for approx. 6 months, while complete malolactic fermentation is used. Total aging, including wood maturation and yeast storage, is around 6 months, followed by a short maturing before bottling.
