Tasting note
Dark purple with purple reflections. Very open, profound and complex bouquet. Jumping, powerful, energetic primary fruit. Plus coffee and roasted wood aromas, and some tobacco. Dense, rich and round on the palate. Lots of meaty tannin of perfect quality. The aromas of the nose are repeated. A masterpiece of complexity and balance. Already very promising, but it will certainly grow significantly over the next few years. It's great.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with beef, lamb and game as well as with aged cheese.
Vinification
The vines for this wine grow in a side valley southwest of Greve in Chianti. They are over 80 years old and therefore yield a very low yield. A further selection of grapes guarantees the top quality of this wine. After fermentation, the young wine is aged for twelve months in new 350-liter French oak barrels and refined in the bottle for a further six months. Around 25,000 bottles are produced per year!
