About the wine
The cross on the label symbolizes the crossing of the two types of wine Cabernet Franc and Merlot, Caberlot. This unique crossing thrives magnificently on the hillside, the Il Carnasciale winery founded by Wolf Rogosky, and wine connoisseurs from all over the world are fighting for the few auspicious magnum bottles. In the southern Chianti region, about 30 km from Siena, the vineyard is located just over 400 meters above sea level in sunny Valdarno.

Vinification
Angaben über Vinifizierung: Die Weinberge von Podere Il Carnasciale umfassen eine Fläche von nur 3,5 Hektaren. Die manuelle Ernte beginnt spät im September und die Erträge überschreiten nicht mehr als 25-30 Hektoliter pro Hektare. Auf Handarbeit und das Einsetzen von natürlichen Produkten wird strikt geachtet. Die reifen Trauben werden in kleinen Edelstahlbehältern bei 28-29°C vergoren. Danach lagern die Weine während 22 Monate in französischen Barriques, von denen 70% neu sind und reifen danach weitere 16 Monate in der Flasche. Es werden je nach Jahrgang etwa 3000 Magnums von Il Caberlot sowie 6-8000 Flaschen vom Carnasciale hergestellt. Önologen und Kellermeister: Peter Schilling und sein Assistent Marco Maffei.
