Hommage A Jef VDP d'Oc 2014 - Borie la Vitarèle

Jean François Izarn was one of Languedoc's most brilliant wine pioneers. Long before others ventured into near-natural wines, he pressed with wild yeasts, spontaneously and grew his terroir wines on the yeasts for a long time. “Wine takes time and patience,” biodynamic ideas appealed to the former top chef more than a miracle cure for the nutria industry. He vinified the grapes strictly according to his soils, Terre Blanche (chalk/lime), Schistes (slate), Cres (grien/coarse gravel) and Combe (clay) are the names of his four terroir wines. The vines are all located in a well-protected valley in which there is also its cellar and a pretty smallest, urban-looking house. One of the steep slopes of Syrah, near the farm, was the undoing of JEF. While ploughing, his tractor tipped over and robbed his life in April 2014. This cuvée is intended as a tribute to Jean François, a wine entirely according to his ideas. We hope we will remember him very well, as a wonderful friend whom we accompanied from the start >2034
