About the wine
The 2020 Guardiola Etna Rosso DOC from Cusumano showcases fresh, structured flavors from the Nerello Mascalese grape grown on the slopes of Mount Etna. Tasting note
Transparent ruby red with garnet reflections. Deep and complex, with aromas of red fruits such as cherry and raspberry, floral notes of rose and violet, followed by notes of sweet spices and earthy and mineral nuances reminiscent of the lava rock of the Etna terroir. Elegant and harmonious, with fine and well-integrated tannins. On the palate, there are notes of ripe red fruits, delicate spices and a long and persistent mineral finish that is reminiscent of typical volcanic soil. Balanced freshness and acidity give this wine structure and make it particularly long-lasting.
Culinary recommendation
Perfect for dishes with red meat, game, aged cheese and traditional Sicilian dishes such as baked kids, eggplant rolls and pasta with meat sauce. It is also great with mushrooms and dishes with earthy aromas.
Vinification
After manual harvesting, the grapes are vinified in steel tanks, with prolonged maceration to extract aromas and structure. The wine ages for a time in French oak barrels, which round off its tannins and give it complexity without masking the varietal characteristics of Nerello Mascalese.
