About the wine
Christmas 2021 is just around the corner! Make the most of it with this powerful white wine 2018 — Grüner Veltliner Spitzer Graben. You can describe nature in Lower Austria with words such as mountainous or hilly. However, the Austrian winery Muthenthaler is trying to express the beauty of its homeland with this white wine. Tasting note
The GV Spitzer Graben is brilliant light yellow with green reflections. On the nose, cool aromas of yellow fruits, green apples, orange zest, wet stones and slightly herbal notes inspire. On the palate, the wine is dry and full of character with subtle and spicy aromas of lime, pear, lime blossom and some white pepper, noticeable almost stony minerality and a vibrating acid structure. A wonderfully juicy, extremely tasty and exciting terroir wine.
Culinary recommendation
An excellent accompaniment to aperitifs, Austrian specialities, vegetarian dishes, fish and seafood, cheese, poultry and cold cuts.
Vinification
The vines for the Spitzen Graben are rooted in Martin Muthenthaler's deeper and coolest areas on rocky soils with a loamy layer. The grapes are picked by hand and fermented spontaneously with natural yeasts. The aging takes place mainly in steel tanks for approx. 6 months on full yeast.
