About the wine

Tasting note
The clean, precise and discreet bouquet allows the terroir to filter through the red berries. The palate is balanced, with fine tannins and nice acidity, and quite juicy in the mouth, with notes of raspberry jam, crushed strawberry, white pepper and light garrigue towards the end. This is a sophisticated Rhone blend that will age with the style.

Goes well with Braii.
Vinification
The grapes for the Kottabos all come from the slopes of Polkadraai in Stellenbosch. The area is full of granite and iron base soils and is close to the ocean of False Bay. Both Grenache and Syrah grapes are grown on decomposed granite soil. The Grenache was fermented as a whole bunch of grapes and aged in old French oak barrels for 10 months before being blended with the Syrah. The Syrah was stored in stainless steel tanks for 10 months to maintain freshness.
