About the wine
The winemaker from the South African winery Glenwood absolutely masters his craft. Style and finesse are the characteristics of this white wine, which originates in the sunny and enchanting landscape of the Coastal region. If we can offer something special for Christmas 2021, it is this powerful white wine 2018 — Grand Duc Chardonnay. Tasting note
This wine is rich and opulent with an intense character of dried peaches and apricots. Drink now or within 7 to 12 years of age. Only 2600 bottles produced. Another drought year with lower night temperatures, in which the fruits ripen slowly and produce small clusters with highly concentrated aromas.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with creamy or spicy dishes as well as with white meat. It goes particularly well with rich fish dishes such as grilled lobster or king prawns in garlic butter. Vegetarian dishes with creamy sauces or spicy components also benefit from its structure.
Vinification
The grapes were picked at 24.9° B and the whole bundle was pressed to 1.4 bar pressure. The juice was left to rest for two days and placed in a barrel. Fermentation was carried out only with wild yeast over a period of one month. The wine spent 24 months on lees in 100% new, 300l and 500l French oak barrels.
