About the wine

Family-owned since 1874, Santa Duc is a permanent institution on the southern Rhone and the leading winery in Gigondas. In 1985, the father handed this treasure over to his son Yves Gras. He is an exceptional talent, a traditionalist and visionary. He was one of the first to recognize here that Gigondas could only have a great future by returning to the old virtues. With great vision and his incomparable drive, he has succeeded in bringing out the uniqueness of the terroir again and leading Gigondas out of the shadow of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. For decades, his wines have been reliably among the best in the appellation. They impressively demonstrate that Gigondas not only produce rough, alcoholic and excessive wines, but also fascinating, expressive and rich in finesse.
