About the wine
De Toren, which translates as the tower, is the name of the young farm, which only bottled the first wine - Fusion V - under its own label in 1999. Within just a few years, De Toren and the young wine artist Albie Koch were among the top producers in the Cape.
Tasting note
De Toren Fusion V is the iconic Left Bank Blend, carefully made from Bordeaux's “Noble Five” grape varieties. Elegant bouquet of ripe plums, dates, amarena cherries, lilacs and a touch of anise and vanilla. With its complex aromas of licorice, black cherry, cedar and dark berries, it offers a prelude to demanding palates. Silky soft, with a touch of sweet fruit. A full-bodied finish that lingers on for a very long time after the last sip. This wine has great storage potential and continues to gain depth and intensity as it ages in the bottle.
Culinary recommendation
Flaschenpöstler recommend this Fusion V for ribeye steak, mushroom pizza and Gruyère burgers. The wine should be enjoyed during this period: Now until 2028.
