Tasting note
The Friulians called their local grape variety Tocai, which came here from the East in ancient times and has adapted over the centuries to the particular microclimate of Friuli. Here on the language border between Italian and Slovenian and still under the influence of KuK Austria-Hungary, Tocai means something like “here - the one from here, ours.” But in the course of the Europeanization of this remote corner too, the Hungarians exclusively claimed the name Tocai for their wine from the variety of the same name, which, however, does not correspond to that of the Fiulans. Champagen (NE) sends his regards! Because the Tocai grown by the Friulians had to renounce its name, the Friulians decided to call it Friulano without further ado. The character of the wine has not changed as a result, and Venica, master in producing typical varietal specialities, presses wonderfully fresh, finely aromatic Friulano, backed by a lively breed, with finesse.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with aperitifs, antipasti, fish, charcuterie.
Vinification
