About the wine

This distinctive Zweigelt 2012 — Eichkogel is a hit right down to the last drop in the truest sense of the word! Picturesque landscapes of Burgenland give us these grapes, from which the winemaker from the Austrian winery Anton Kollwentz conjures up this red wine with refinement and sensitivity. Flaschenpöstler tip: Combine this Zweigelt with roast onion or beef tartare.

Tasting note
In the bouquet, fully ripe berry fruit, underlaid with a spicy flavor of culinary herbs, cloves, herbal tannins on the palate, powerful, juicy and long in the body, enormous finale. You should decant this wine.
Culinary recommendation
The Eichkogel goes perfectly with hearty meat dishes such as lamb and steaks. Summer game. Maybe even after eating ripe cheese, but it can also be young cream cheese.
Vinification
The Eichkogel is a blend of traditional Grosshöfleiner varieties Blaufränkisch (70%) and Zweigelt (30%). In the Pannonian climate of Burgenland, the grapes ripen to the highest quality on the southern slope of the Leitha Mountains. Aged in small oak barrels, Eichkogel combines the spicy berry fruit of Blaufränkisch with the velvety of Zweigelt. Fully ripe, healthy grapes are selectively harvested by hand. Blaufränkisch with around 30% Zweigelt. It is aged for 21 months in small French oak barrels. The rest without fining, but with easy filtration.
