Tasting note
The Shiraz shows a bright red color. Delicious aromas of dark fruits are present on the nose. These aromas result in a medium-bodied palate, where spiciness and aromas of red cherries and violets complement each other. The tannins are soft and beautifully integrated, balanced by a delicious freshness on the finish.
Culinary recommendation
Drink it with a Catalan coca and small tapas.
Vinification
The grapes for this wine are grown in the cool climate of the Constantia Valley, all on the Eagles' Nest wine farm, on steep mountain slopes at an altitude of 100 to 400 meters. All grapes were picked by hand, sorted and then pressed into various small to medium-sized open fermenters. Pumping was carried out three to four times a day. After fermentation, the wine was transferred to a combination of 225 French oak barrels of the first, second and third bottling, where it aged for 18 months. After barrel ageing, selected components were transferred to the tank and blended into a multi-layered and complex wine.
