Tasting note
The Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru is presented in the glass with a crystalline color that is permeated by golden green reflections. Even in the nose, it seduces with a subtly buttery spiciness that gives an idea of its complexity. The start on the palate is characterized by delicate lightness before the wine develops an impressive volume. This development culminates in a long and precise finish that underlines the subtle nuances and facets. The youthful drinkability is remarkable, but it develops its true size with a maturation period of 5 to 10 years. During this period, the wine gains depth and harmony, which leads to an even more intense culinary experience.
Culinary recommendation
Perfect with seafood — from mussels to grilled pulpo or crustaceans such as lobsters or shrimps. Delicious with fish — from grilled sea bream and trout to steamed zander or a fine fillet of monkfish.
Vinification
The vineyards are located near the municipality of Blagny, on the edge of the Meursault appellation. The two-part plot faces east and is situated at an altitude of 360 meters above sea level on the Puligny-Montrachet hills on deep clay-limestone soil. The Chardonnay vines, which were planted in 1951, are harvested by hand and transported to the wine cellar in small containers. Aging for 12 months in French oak barrels with 20% new wood content. The oak barrels come from the surrounding Allier forests.
