About the wine

You can describe the landscape of Tessin with words such as mountainous or hilly. However, the Swiss winery Theilervini is trying to express the beauty of its home country with this red wine. Tasting note
This ruby red Merlot with garnet red reflections inspires with a complex and spicy scent of ripe blackberries, raspberries, black cherries, tobacco, cedarwood and a touch of roasted coffee. On the palate, it is full with intense and spicy fruit aromas, present tannins and a juicy acid structure. An extremely charming Merlot with a long-lasting finish supported by cherry and blackberry fruit.
Culinary recommendation
It goes wonderfully with strong Ticino specialities, rich dishes with red meat, game, lamb or aged cheese.
Vinification
The grapes for this Merlot come from the best locations in the lower and middle Malcantone and grow on insubrian brown soil with a high sand content. After handpicking, the wine ferments on the mash for approx. 3 weeks before being aged for approx. 15 months in 300-liter Burgundy barrels (approx. 50% virgin wood content). The wine is bottled unfiltered.
