Light golden yellow with a subtle golden shimmer — accentuates expressive nose with notes of ripe stone fruit, white pears and yellow peaches, plus this typical Swartland minerality as well as hints of fynbos and a subtle citrus note. There is also an almost Sauvignon Blanc similar note, which gives the wine additional freshness and complexity. On the palate, this quite powerful chenin impresses with its fullness and texture, but also incredible precision. Due to a slightly longer than usual maceration time, there are aromas of marzipan, but also a little bit of “grip”, i.e. a touch of tannin, which guarantees the wine backbone and texture, stabilizes it naturally and thus also preserves its incredible freshness. Accordingly, this wine from vines planted in 1982 is likely to have an above-average life ahead of it. An unforgettable expression of an irreplaceable vineyard — profound and timeless.
