About the wine
La Grande Dame is a tribute to Madame Clicquot. In 1818, she produced the first known “rosé d'assemblage”, for which she blended several of her Bouzy red wines with her white wines. Madame Clicquot used to say: “Our black grapes make the most beautiful white wines.” The splendor of Pinot Noir. La Grande Dame Rosé pays tribute to their vision, with 90% Pinot Noir, which mainly comes from the historic Grand Crus of our terroir, and with a red wine from a single plot — the “Clos Colin” plot — in the blend. The “Clos Colin” plot is Veuve Clicquot's oldest plot with exceptional Pinot Noirs in the historic Bouzy vineyards. It was purchased in 1741 by Philippe Clicquot, the future father-in-law of the founder of the house. This exceptional and rare cuvée can be described in three words: verticality, elegance and sunshine. In line with this quest for perfection, which is in keeping with the spirit of the house and Madame Clicquot, Veuve Clicquot presents the 10th edition of La Grande Dame Rosé: La Grande Dame Rosé 2015.
