About the wine

If you are looking for something special, then you shouldn't miss out on this strong white wine 2014 — Chamonix Chardonnay. Sunny and graceful landscapes of the coastal region give us these grapes, from which the winemaker from the South African winery Chamonix conjures up this white wine with refinement and experience. Culinary tip from Flaschenpost team: This Chardonnay can be served very well with goat cheese or fish with herbs.

Item no. 1207108
Tasting note
The grapes are crushed until soft and the must is fermented in French oak barrels (approx. 20% new) for 15-25 days. Malolactic fermentation takes place naturally during the 12 months in which the wine is aged on the lees for a year, with wine and yeast being stirred regularly to improve mouthfeel and complexity. The wine shows bright straw yellow colors with golden reflections and rich aromas in scents reminiscent of tropical fruits and grapefruits, mixed with hints of oats, caramel and nutmeg. Medium-bodied with rich fruit aromas.
Culinary recommendation
Our recommendation: The ideal drinking temperature for white wine is a slightly chilled 9°-11°C. The recommended drinking phase of this wine is in the following period: Now until 2020. Recommended by Flaschenpöstlern: Chamonix Chardonnay goes perfectly with fish with herbs, asparagus and soft cheese.
Vinification
The vinification took place as follows: This Chardonnay was aged in 40% new and 60% used French oak barrels. It then aged on lees for a further 11 months.
