About the wine
This dominant Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 — Cepas Viejas DO is a hit right down to the last drop in the truest sense of the word! The winemaker from the Spanish winery Hacienda del Carche is absolutely proficient in his craft. Elegance and finesse are the characteristics of this red wine, which originates in the graceful Levant landscape. Tasting note
Valérie Durand, oenologist at Hacienda del Carche, has once again achieved a big hit with this wine. The intense cherry-red cuvée with purple reflections delights the nose with strong aromas of red fruits, raisins, some chocolate, pipe tobacco and pleasant spicy notes. On the palate, lots of substance and fruit paired with velvety tannins and wonderfully integrated acidity. An elegant red wine with lots of character for the southern region.

Vinification
Cepas Viejas or Old Vineyards is a blend of 70% Monastrell and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. After careful handpicking and strict triage, the wine is fermented in steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Biological acid degradation and subsequent 12-month aging take place in new French barriques. The wine is bottled unembellished and only slightly filtered before it ages in the bottle for 6-12 months.
