About the wine

This Sauvignon Blanc draws its strength and energy from the calcareous, gravelly soils on the western banks of the Garonne. The winemaker from the French winery Château Suduiraut transforms it into a real treat with great sensitivity. A must for connoisseurs, this distinctive Sauvignon Blanc 2012 — Castelnau de Suduiraut Sauternes AC Bordeaux! Flaschenpöstler culinary tip: This Sauvignon Blanc is very good to serve with goat cheese or white meat.

Tasting note
The Castelnau de Suduiraut is a rich and brilliant golden yellow. On the nose, intense aromas of exotic and candied yellow fruits, sweet spices, quince, honey and spicy notes inspire. On the palate, the wine is complex with a breathtaking aroma potpourri of sweet fruits, ginger, brioche, some licorice and slight mineral notes. The subtle but noticeable acid structure supports the smooth sweetness and results in a refreshing and extremely spicy and long-lasting finish. A dessert wine that, in contrast to the first wine, is great fun to drink when drunk young.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with blue cheese, all kinds of sweets, poultry with morels, foie gras, terrines, at the end of a dinner or just for pure enjoyment.
Vinification
For the second Suduiraut wine, the first batches of the Château Suduiraut harvest are used. The grapes come from selected plots with sandy and stony clay soils. The extremely poor soil results in low yields and concentrated grapes. The vines are on average 35 years old and have a plant density of 7000 vines per hectare. The grapes are harvested by hand in several stages in order to select the rotten grapes infested with botrytis. After fermentation in steel tanks, the wine is aged in barriques (approx. 10% new wood content) for 16 months.
