About the wine

The Apolitico winery is located in the picturesque vineyards of Rezovac, a small village near Virovitica. It was designed to the latest standards and equipped with first-class oenological technology. Particularly noteworthy is a special area in the cellar, where large and small oak, wild cherry and chestnut barrels are used to make wine. Limited editions of red and white wines are produced here. The winery uses high-quality Croatian oak wood, and in addition to the wooden barrels, there are handmade, large-capacity amphoras from Georgia (Qvervi). These unique amphoras make it possible to produce premium red wines with specific aromas, tastes and smells, and Apolitico is one of the few producers in Croatia to use them.

Tasting note
Deep ruby red with slight purple reflections. On the nose, it presents dominant fruit aromas of black berries and plums, accompanied by delicate spicy notes. The wine is characterized by its balanced fruitiness, subtle sweetness and pleasant acidity, which makes it extremely tasty. After a few seconds on the palate, the strong tannins start to take hold, the wine shows its strength and fullness. The Apolitico Caruga is a dry wine that is characterized by a harmonious and complex personality. This wine was made in Bordeaux style and consists of a balanced ratio of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot. During the 12-month aging in oak and chestnut barrels, it develops its full potential.
