About the wine
With sensitivity and intuition, the winemaker from the French winery Domaine Andrée masters this red wine in the fertile and picturesque landscape of the Loire. Tasting note
The grapes for this pure Cabernet Franc come from 70-year-old vines. The dark soils on which they grow are rich in clay, interspersed with granite and coal inclusions, which is where the name comes from. Aged for around 18 months in barriques, with only around 30% virgin wood content. Minimally sulfurized. Fruity and spicy bouquet with aromas of dark berries, amarena cherries and a bit of cassis, surrounded by notes of dried herbs, leather and graphite. Lively on the palate, again showing fine spiciness, yet fruity-elegant, with a silky texture and well-integrated tannins.
Culinary recommendation
Wonderful with beetroot risotto with “Olivet Cendré” (cow's milk cheese in ash), with bean stew with bacon or with a juicy leg of lamb with herbs from the oven.
