About the wine
This dominant white wine 2017 — Cape Of Good Hope Chenin Blanc Riebeeksrivier is in the truest sense of the word a triumph to the last drop! The winemaker from the South African winery Anthonij Rupert masters this white wine with sensitivity and intuition in the beautiful and graceful landscape of the coastal region. Tasting note
Quince, poached peach and a hint of vanilla on the nose. The palate is fresh and offers the fruitiness of peach and quince, but with a nice lime note and liveliness. All of this is balanced by a soft creamy oak background — which is subtly yet beautifully integrated with charming vanilla and butterscotch notes. Textured and long, nothing is over the top with impressive harmony, weight on the palate and genuine refinement.

Goes well with an aperitif or as an accompaniment to fish or seafood.
Vinification
The Riebeeksrivier farm is located on the slopes of Kasteelberg with views of Swartland. Its unique terroir, particularly the slate soils, is strongly expressed in wine with unique varietal characteristics. The Chenin Blanc bush vine, planted in 1988, produces fruits of great intensity and richness, which are balanced by bright acidity and length. The alcoholic and malolactic fermentation took place both in stainless steel tanks and in 500l French oak barrels, and the wine spent 12 months on the lees before being cut and bottled.
