About the wine
Beautiful and fertile landscapes in Veneto give us these grapes, from which the winemaker from the Italian winery Masi conjures up this red wine with refinement and sensitivity. Flaschenpöstler culinary tip: This Corvina is excellent to serve with recent types of cheese or game.
Tasting note
Dense ruby with purple reflections. Fruity and spicy on the nose. There are aromas of ripe black berries, dark jam, dried fruits, raisins, but also warm-spicy components. On the palate, it has a balanced texture. Juicy and elegant, accompanied by an invigorating acidity. The tannins are present but finely meshed. A full-bodied body with complex palate aromas, pleasantly structured. The aftertaste is of good length and aromatic persistence.
Culinary recommendation
Versatile meal companion Goes well with pizza, pasta, risotto and gnocchi.
Vinification
While Amarone pomace was previously added to young Valpolicella during fermentation, Masi now marries the young wine with whole, dried grapes to initiate the desired second fermentation. This gives the wine more content, color and structure as well as more intense and complex aromas. The wine is aged in large wooden barrels for 18 months.
