About the wine
With sensitivity and intuition, the winemaker from the Italian winery Prunotto masters this red wine in the fertile and picturesque landscape of Piedmont. With the outstanding Nebbiolo 2011 — Bussia Vigna Colonnello, nuances and accents are redefined. The Flaschenpöstler promise a culinary experience when you offer this Nebbiolo with truffle risotto or pizza.
Tasting note
Shiny ruby with slight whitening at the edge. On the nose, the scent of rose petals, ripe raspberries, some pomegranate. This is accompanied by balsamic and warm-spicy notes. Intense and powerful on the palate. Wonderful tannin structure and fine acidity. The aromas of the nose are repeated. Long, aromatic finish
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with fine meat dishes, including game.
Vinification
Colonnello is a special piece of vineyard within the Bussia site in Monforte d'Alba. The soil of the Colonnello site has a higher proportion of clay compared to Bussia. Because of this special characteristic, Prunotto presses the grapes from this location separately - as a Barolo Riserva Bussia Vigna Colonnello. The grapes ferment in steel tanks and mature for 18 months in 50 hl French oak barrels. After bottling, the Colonnello is stored on the estate for 36 months before being sold.
