About the wine
Louis Roederer is one of the few champagne houses that has been family-owned since its founding in 1776. The biggest asset of Champagne Louis Roederer lies in 242 hectares of its own vines - in the best locations in Champagne - harmoniously distributed across the three most important production areas: Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne and Côte des Blancs. The plots of the vineyards are classified at 98% Grand Cru on average and cover two thirds of the house's grape requirements. The jewel of the house Louis Roederer is the Cuvée Cristal. It was created in 1876 specifically for Tsar Alexander II. The grapes come exclusively from the 10 best sites in the Louis Roederer vineyard. They are classified with 100% Grand Cru and come from vines that are at least 25 years old.
