About the wine

There is something left over from Christmas dinner every year. Do you know that? Why not invite your friends over for a glass of wine in the afternoon to enjoy the festive meal again and we recommend this hearty Cabernet Sauvignon 2011 — Blend. Sunny and beautiful landscapes of the coastal region give us these grapes, from which the winemaker from the South African winery Anthonij Rupert conjures up this red wine with refinement and sensitivity. The Flaschenpöstler promise a culinary experience when you offer this Cabernet Sauvignon with ribeye steak or red meat.

Tasting note
Compote made from red and black berries, sprinkled with baking spice in the nose. Nice combination of ripe but lively berries and dark fruits with spices, lighter juiciness and a deeper, more earthy cocoa note. The wine is round, lush and rich. The seamless integration of fruit and oak contributes to the overall impression of harmony. Concentrated and long with a nice finish.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with dark, spicy meats. The strong red wine is particularly excellent with game dishes with cranberries.
Vinification
The vineyards for this special blend were selected from our best locations: L'Ormarins in Franschhoek and Rooderust in Groenekloof, near Darling. The L'Ormarins vineyards, with their decomposed granite, give the wine richness and richness. The Rooderust vineyards, which have more clay and a slightly warmer climate, provided the intense fruit aromas. The combination of these terroirs results in a unique wine. The grapes are picked by hand, packed in small boxes and transported to the cellar in a refrigerated truck. The whole berries are sorted in the cellar before being filled into wooden fermentation containers by gravity. The grapes from the various plots are cold macerated separately before the temperature is gradually raised and fermentation starts spontaneously. After fermentation, an extended maceration period is allowed. The wine was aged in 60% new French oak barrels for 24 months before being bottled unfiltered and aged in the bottle for a further seven years.
