Elegance and finesse are the characteristics of this red wine, which originates in the picturesque landscape of Burgenland. Tasting note
Ernst is only pressed in the best years. After the first work in 2009, it is now followed by the 2011. Only 600 bottles were produced. Incredibly delicate and elegant - smooth berry aromas, great balance, crisp acidity, slightly creamy on the palate with wonderfully integrated wood aromas, lots of nerve and depth — pure Blaufränkisch! A wine that will probably only reveal its potential in five or more years, but with enough air, is great fun even when young.
Culinary recommendation
A meditation wine that is best left to rest in the cellar for a few more years. With enough air, it goes wonderfully with hearty and elegant meat dishes such as Châteaubriand, beef fillet stroganoff, veal back with mushrooms, game dishes, etc. Be sure to decant or open the day before.
Vinification
The grapes for Ernst's prestigious wine come from the oldest vines in the two Goldberg and Hochberg vineyards. Of course, it is picked by hand and fermented spontaneously with natural yeasts. The wine matures in French barriques for an unusually long 48 months. Bernhard has the knack, however, to use the wood insert correctly so that the wine is not too woody. The Ernst is bottled unfiltered.
