About the wine

Francesco Illy, exactly the coffee dynasty, has always dreamed of the island. It became a paradisiacal spot near Montalcino, which was a blissful, untouched island for a shepherd and sheep until 1998. The view is beguiling, the architecture breath-taking, the team like a tight-knit community, the 133 ha of forest, vines and olive trees unharmed thanks to uncompromising biodynamics (Demeter) and the complete absence of plastic. And as dry as it can be here, Francesco and his team have thought about it and - quality and sustainability as a mission - planted bonsai vines, although small, but also adapted to this environment, and therefore, as a thank you, outstanding in terms of their qualities. Incomparably seductive, sensual wines.

Tasting note
A wine like an island, untouched and all the more moving. The mild sun in the evening, yellow-orange fruit, the warmth from the ground, the wild Mediterranean herbs, and when the wind turns, brighter, clearer and fresher the fruit, blossoms, salty, it all hangs so beautifully in the air. Delicious, comforting warmth on the palate with this fresh bite, bright fruit, plus the fine sand, fine, noticeable structure, the tannins are fluffy and trickling, the next spot a bit rough and tart, the minerality, and somehow you walk barefoot there too - all very present - that's how happy you are. You can't get any closer to the sea here. It's wonderful.
