The Azienda Domenico Clerico is considered a lighthouse in the Piedmontese countryside. It embodies the modern style, which is characterized by clarity and precision. “A lot is easier for us today than it was for our fathers: The technology allows us to achieve a maximum with a minimum of effort. Even in locations where it used to be difficult to harvest healthy and ripe grapes, we are now achieving good results. However, the tradition should remain alive. We're learning to combine the old with the new,” said Domenico Clerico Briccotto was Domenico Clerico's first step on the way to Barolo Olympus. In 1978, the then young and passionate winemaker was able to buy his first plot of land: Briccotto in Bussia Soprana near Monforte d'Alba. The vines were planted in 1965 and grow to around 330? Meters of altitude facing south. The soil, a mixture of sand, clay and a high percentage of lime, offers ideal conditions for Nebbiolo. Since the first vintage in 1978, Briccotto has only been vinified in years with optimal climatic conditions. Production is strictly limited: around 2,000 bottles per year. Briccotto is one of the finest and most subtle baroli: elegant character, clear lines, silky, fine tannins and impressive durability.
