Tasting note
Vigneto Punta is adjacent to Bricco Fiasco, one of the best locations in Castiglione Falletto. The vines here are on average 60 years old (planted in 1965) — barely younger than Luigi himself, who was already romping around in the vineyard back then as Bambino. The yield is correspondingly low — but the small grapes are highly concentrated. The result is a dense, intensely scented red wine with a fleshy richness. After aging in second-layer barriques for around 14 months, the young wine gains additional tannin structure. Together with the rich extract, this results in a perfect balance. Like all Luigi Scavino wines, this vineyard Barbera is neither embellished nor filtered — this ensures maximum substance remains in the wine. It shows fine leather and vanilla notes, plus aromas of candied fruits, sultanas and nutmeg blossoms. On the palate, it looks elegant, with well-integrated acidity and supple tannin: a harmonious Barbera.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with lamb, beef, veal, venison, pork, grilled meat.
Vinification
