Barbaresco Riserva Vigneto Cole DOCG 2020 - Moccagatta

The Minuto family winery, named after the cru location Moccagatta right in front of Barbaresco, has pleasantly small dimensions. The owners' commitment to quality is reflected in every detail. The barriques cellar, set deep into the ground, is a feast for the eyes: simple, professional, lovingly designed. Vigneto Cole is a steep hillside in the municipality of Barbaresco, facing southeast and consisting of calcareous marl soil. With only 0.5 hectares, it is the smallest vineyard in Fratelli Minuto but the vines, some of which were planted as early as 1972, make the most compact and powerful wine in the Azienda. The aging to Riserva (first vintage in 2020) takes place in barriques for 30 months. Cole is powerful and elegant at the same time, full of warmth and precisely defined with a subtle smoky note. The smoky note of barrique aging (50% new, 50% 2nd filling) is well integrated into the aroma. On the palate, it shows velvety soft, well-ripened tannins. Acidity and structure are well balanced and are a pleasure to eat.
