The Balvenie 15 Years Old Madeira Cask scores points with a balanced 43% volume and an exciting flavor profile. On the nose, a fine scent of warm baked fruit, pears, peaches and apricots delights. Some white pepper is cleverly combined with subtle honey notes and lavish shades of white and dark chocolate. On the palate, lush aromas and intense flavors typical of Madeira casks fascinate. Expressive and almost meaty fruit notes, tart orange peel, cinnamon roasted nuts and white pepper combine with fine oak spice and a slightly bitter ginger chord. The aftertaste is of medium length and a pleasant, fine spice and once again fruity fruit tones, some pepper and as a harmonious finale, with a sensual note of roasted walnuts. It is not the first time that Balvenie has used Madeira barrels to mature, but with the Balvenie 15 YO Madeira Cask, Masterblender David C. Stewart has succeeded in creating a great single malt with a light yet lively character.
