About the wine
In the small border village of Volpaia between the provinces of Siena and Florence, wine was cultivated as early as the 12th century. Since 1967, the Stianti Mascheroni family has been producing elegant, smooth wines with a great deal of commitment and knowledge — today using organic methods. The almost 46 hectares of vineyards belonging to Castello di Volpaia are located 450 to 600 meters above sea level. Volpaia is therefore one of the highest wineries in the Chianti region. Because of their altitude, Volpaia's vineyards are above the fog and frost of spring and autumn.

Tasting note
The Balifico shares name and location with a villa in Volpaia. It has an intense black-red color, has an elegant and beautifully complex scent of blackberry, red currant, sour cherry and a touch of herbal notes. On the palate, it is fresh, harmonious, intensely fruity, with juicy tannins, soft, round and wonderfully structured.
