About the wine
Old Garnacha canes at up to 1300 meters above sea level, rugged Spanish continental climate and a talented team around wine pioneer Jorge Ordoñez are the most important ingredients that make an Atteca. DO Calatayud is located in the province of Zaragoza, halfway between Rioja and Peñedes from a wine perspective.

Tasting note
Not necessarily more powerful, but more subtle, complex and elegant than the already excellent Atteca. First a bit smoky in the bouquet, then nice cherry notes, dried flowers and very subtle wood. Soft fullness, silky, finely woven structure with rather mild tannins. Notes of port wine, sweet extract, very long-lasting, some cloves in the finish. One of the best wines from Calatayud!

Vinification
The essence of the old vines from Ateca, limited to a few thousand bottles! The winery was founded in 2005 not far from Calatayud. Ateca has 55 hectares of vineyards; the Garnacha grape variety is mainly planted on old slate soils. The climate is continental and is characterized by cold winters and hot summers. The grapes for Atteca Armas come from a small 2.5 hectare plot of land with over 100-year-old vines, which yield a very low yield. The grapes are very concentrated and full of aroma. After strict selection, the grapes are macerated before they are fermented in small stainless steel tanks. Atteca Armas matures in French barriques for 18 months.
