About the wine

With the strong Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 — Arenario DOC Maremma, you can offer your family and friends something very special. The fertile and blooming Tuscan landscapes give us these grapes, from which the winemaker from the Italian winery Poggio Cagnano conjures up this red wine with refinement and sensitivity. The Flaschenpöstler promise a culinary experience when you offer this Cabernet Sauvignon with red meat or ribeye steak.

Tasting note
The Arenario impresses with its strong ruby red color with dark reflections. On the nose, intense and complex aromas of black berries, sweet spices, licorice, thyme and mineral accents. The palate is followed by a sweet fruit potpourri, which is accompanied by spicy notes, aromas of coffee and some wood, mineral notes, a racy acid structure and distinctive tannins. An extremely lively and complex red wine with a seemingly endless finish and a perfect balance between powerful Maremma charm and refreshing elegance. Unfortunately, only 1500 bottles have just been pressed, so the rule is: it hett solang shett…
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with Tuscan specialities such as Bistecca alla Fiorentina or Porchetta. With beef fillet, game or other hearty meat dishes, pasta and aged hard cheeses
Vinification
The grapes for Arenario grow 400 meters above sea level at a steep southern location. After careful manual harvesting, the natural yeasts are fermented in stainless steel tanks. The wine stays on the skins for 35 days. The malolactic fermentation takes place in barriques before the wine is aged for a further 15 months in 300-liter French oak barrels. Approximately 40% virgin wood is used. The wine is then aged in the bottle for a further 12 months before being sold.
