About the wine
Amaren is “the mother's wine,” and this exceptional wine, rated 91 Tim Atkin points, is named after Ángeles, the mother of Juan Luis Cañas (president of Familia Luis Cañas) and grandmother of Jon Cañas (winemaker at Bodega Amaren). The most beautiful way to honor their legacy was to produce a wine from vineyards that embody the essence of our region.

Tasting note
An elegant red wine that impresses with aromas of ripe black fruits such as blackberries and plums as well as a touch of spices, tobacco and fine oak. On the palate, it is full-bodied, with velvety tannins and well-integrated acidity. The aftertaste is long and complex, with subtle notes of chocolate and coffee beans that underline its depth and aging.
Culinary recommendation
Perfect with grilled lamb or beef steaks, but also with aged cheeses such as Manchego or Gruyère. The wine also goes wonderfully with hearty stews or braised meat and is ideal as an accompaniment to festive occasions.
Vinification
The Tempranillo ferments in concrete tanks, while the Graciano ferments in French oak barrels. Aged for 16 months, of which 10% in tulip-shaped concrete tanks and the rest in French, American and Hungarian oak barrels (225 l), half of which are new.
