Far outside Panzano, nestled in fantastically intact nature, lies the Azienda Vecchie Terre di Montefili by Roccaldo Acuti, who retired from the hectic textile industry many years ago out of passion for wine and its microcosm. The philosophy that his daughter Maria and son-in-law Tommaso live out more emphatically than ever in the vineyard and in the cellar is very simple: back to natural viticulture. Among other things, they are decidedly against artificial irrigation, although this helps to make wines fuller and smoother, in fact consumer-friendly, but at the expense of the environment, and this in a country that is suffering more and more from a lack of water. The Azienda Vecchie Terre di Montefili proves that the wines grow excellently even without irrigation.
