Tasting note
The Agra Collina d'Oro Merlot Riserva 2022 by Cantina Pelossi is an intense ruby red with purple reflections. On the nose, it develops a complex bouquet with aromas of ripe red fruits such as cherries and plums, complemented by elegant roasted notes and sweet spices from barrique aging. On the palate, it is full-bodied and harmonious with well-integrated tannins, which give the wine structure. The balance between fruity aromas and wood notes ensures a pleasant mouthfeel and a long-lasting finish.
Culinary recommendation
This Merlot goes well with meat dishes, game and aged cheese.
Vinification
The grapes are traditionally vinified using the Bordeaux process. The alcoholic fermentation takes place with a maceration period of over 20 days in conical oak barrels. The wine then undergoes malolactic fermentation and matures for about 24 months in 225 liter French oak barriques, with 60% of the barrels being new and 40% second covered.
