About the wine

The I Greppi winery was founded in 2001 with the vision of recognizing Bolgheri's exceptional winemaking potential. The 37-hectare estate, including 26 hectares planted with vines, stretches across the central and northern part of the DOC area between the historic mountain villages of Bolgheri and Castagneto Carducci, just 100 km southwest of Florence. In 2017, the McMahon family acquired the winery and contributed their geological expertise and deep appreciation for the region's unique climate and terroir. The vineyards consist primarily of sandy soils, which offer excellent drainage and natural resistance to pests such as phylloxera. I Greppi also has two other vineyards within the DOC area, whose clay-rich soils contribute to greater complexity and balance of the wines. This diversity of terroir is the key to producing wines that authentically reflect the essence of Bolgheri.
