About the wine
Antinori has been active in the wine trade for a whopping six centuries. The wine dynasty from Florence is now led by the 26th generation. Marchese Piero Antinori runs the company together with his three daughters. A real classic!
Tasting note
That will be remembered: Its elegant ruby red lends an extravagant touch to any occasion. The fruity aromas of fruit compote, spices and tobacco express a lot of finesse with a very unique structure. Afterwards, the spicy nuances of black cherry, black plum and black pepper reveal their own character. With subdued, pleasantly developed tannins, a strong body and dominant acidity, this fruity red wine shows its masterly texture. This top wine was awarded: 90 points Wine Spectator, 90 points Expovina, 90 points Falstaff Top Value.
Culinary recommendation
Mediterranean meat dishes such as beef stew with polenta go particularly well with this riserva.
Vinification
Information about vinification: Antinori Chianti classico DOCG Riserva. The grapes — 90% Sangiovese and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon — come exclusively from the family-owned vineyards around Siena. After harvesting, the grapes are gently pressed, destemmed and fermented in steel tanks at a temperature below 30 °C for twelve days. By the end of the year, the young wine has completed its malolactic fermentation and is then aged 60% in new Hungarian oak barrels and 40% in used French barriques for approx. 18 months.
