About the wine
The first Merlot grapes in Ticino were planted in the Vallombrosa vineyards before 1906. The vineyard was owned by the Lucchini wine merchant family for a long time and some still have 100-year-old vines. The innovative Ticino winemaker Claudio Tamborini took over the 14-hectare winery in the mid-nineties and produces, in addition to the basic Vallombrosa wines with the Castelrotto, a mighty barrique lot.

Tasting note
Intense ruby red. Distinctive and slightly spicy scent, full and long-lasting, with walberry notes. Taste intense, full, rich in aromas with present tannins that subdue after 3 to 4 years. Elegant wine, a typical Merlot.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with red meat, venison and cheese
