About the wine

The Molisian region has always proved to be ideal for viticulture due to its unique soil conditions and mild climate. Archaeological findings from the 5th century BC and references in the writings of Pliny the Elder prove that viticulture in Molise was already practiced in ancient times. Under the rule of the Lombards, the Staufers and the Aragonese, viticulture spread in the region, and between the 17th and 18th century, the —Contado di Molisji was considered one of the most densely covered areas with vines in the north of the Kingdom of Naples.
