About the wine
The wine-growing regions of the French winery Domaine Julien Pilon extend across the landscapes of the Côtes du Rhône, where the experienced winemaker produces this red wine. Tasting note
Saint Joseph is dark ruby red. The nose is dominated by aromas of sweet blackberries, ripe plums, pomegranates paired with spicy notes of espresso, cloves, pepper, some smoke and licorice. On the palate, the wine is powerful and lively with blue fruit aromas, lots of spice, smooth tannins, a creamy structure and a pleasant freshness. A top Syrah with a long-lasting finish.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with hearty meat dishes such as lamb & game, beef, stews, cheese.
Vinification
The vines for this Saint Joseph are rooted on granite-rich sandy soils in northern plots of the appellation. After manual harvesting, the grapes are completely destemmed and gently squeezed. Fermentation takes place in open stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged in half in French barriques and 500-liter oak barrels for 12 months. Approximately 10% virgin wood is used
