Tasting note
Tripolaia's top wine called “Son io” has a sparkling ruby red. On the nose, an almost perfumed bouquet of ripe blackberries, cassis, fruit drops, plums, black olives, sweet cinnamon seasoning and pipe tobacco delights. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and complex, with penetrating berry aromas, a touch of mint, some pepper, rosemary and lots of sweet spicy notes. The firm tannins are noticeable and well integrated. A pleasant freshness and noticeable minerality result in an extremely long-lasting and fruity finish. A graceful super Tuscan with lots of depth and structure that has good aging potential.

Vinification
Son io comes from older vines that grow around the Bolgheri winery. The grapes are picked by hand and fermented separately by variety at low temperatures. The resulting wines then mature in French barriques for 14 months. It is then blended and, after further storage, the wine is bottled and sold after 6 months of bottle aging at the earliest.
